Pulse in Vail

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

As we are intensifying our efforts to bring more regular classes to the Vail area, I am reminded that the students we have in Vail are above average in their physical capabilities. They are used to vigorous workouts. They have taught me so much and Prisca, Charry and I are so lucky to be teaching this level of students who have so much body awareness, physical prowess and who are eager to try new things and improve. This is so exciting and we are looking forward to Nov. 6th with DJ Damianos spinning some great music for Pulse.

Girl'sNIght Out Media Event

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

We had a great time last night at our NY media event. There were some interesting vendors there like “Play Your Workout.” It is an IPhone application with 500 workouts. Very cool idea. There were representatives from many magazines and news programs, bloggers and some curious onlookers. Dr. Paul Arciero came down from Skidmore College to attend the event. He was so wonderful, expounding on the benefits of Pulse Yoga, using his scientific knowledge that makes it all so very interesting.

Dr. Paul Arciero, Associate Professor, Exercise Science, Skidmore College, Fellow American College of Sports Medicine has a great website: www.drpaulsprotocol.com. Dr. Paul attended a Teacher Training that I conducted a few years ago at Haramara Yoga Retreat in Mexico. He subsequently obtained a grant to study the effects of Pulse Yoga along with Functional Resistance Training. The findings are soon to be published in a medical journal. The results can be viewed on our website. We are so blessed to have the expertise and knowledge of Paul and so appreciate his involvement with Pulse Yoga.

osteopenia and osteoporosis

Weight bearing exercise is so important for bone health. I just had another bone scan and after a year, there is some improvement. This is with the help of pulse yoga, additional strength training, bio-identical hormones, supplements and limiting alcohol consumption to 2-3 glasses of wine per week. Lumbar T-score went from -3.0 to -2.3. hip T-score went from -2.2 to -2.0. I am quite happy with the results.

Pulsing out of the jet lag state

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I have been trying to use Pulse Yoga as a way to  return to another time zone. After biking in Italy, I am back in New York with just a few days before I go to Vail for the workshops at The Westin and Dogma. I think it really helps. Carrot, apple beet juice is another things I like to get my system cleaned out and refreshed. So yoga may not be the panacea for all ills, but it may, along with all of the other benefits, be helpful for jet lag.

About the Pulse Yoga Workshop on August 30th

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Some great energy was flowing around at the inaugural Pulse Yoga workshop on August 30th. Prisca and I had been playing with the idea of hosting a workshop all summer. We have been working so hard on organizing our Pulse business, by hiring a PR firm and redesigning our website, looking for distributors for the DVD’s, etc, etc.

We also made a trip to our storage unit where the remains of our Yoga for Athletes Fitness Studio has been gathering dust for the past few years. We came upon boxes and boxes of release forms with the names of all of our former students. As we started sorting through them, we found ourselves saying things like, “Oh remember so and so and what ever happened to them. Are they still in Vail? I wonder how they are doing.”
