Pulse Yoga II Balance & Tone DVD Review and Giveaway

Yoga has always been one of my favorite forms of exercise. I don’t claim to be the expert in this

subject but I have enough experience (attended several yoga classes in the past and own several

yoga home DVDs) to know when a yoga exercise program is worthy or not, of your time and

money.

I recently received the Pulse Yoga II Balance & Tone

DVD for my review and what great timing! I am in full

force about keeping up with my daily workout routine

now that I’m getting married and want to look great in

my wedding dress. So the arrival of this DVD at my

front door was just perfect! :)

So after several workouts using the Pulse Yoga II

Balance & Tone DVD, here’s my take:

if you want to tone your upper body in a slow-paced

yoga mode using free weights, then this is one home

video exercise to check out. I love the idea of using

pulses while doing the yoga moves which are

incorporated throughout this 60-minute balance and

tone workout. The main fitness instructor Argie Tang is

very precise in her instructions so you feel like you’re

really learning from a real expert. Read about her bio

here, along with her assistant Prisca Boris. I love this

yoga workout DVD and I definitely recommend it to

anyone!

Product details: Pulse Yoga II Balance & Tone

Balance in motion are emphasized here by connecting standing balancing postures in order to

master control over the body in any position. Efficient simultaneous movements of free weights

tone the upper body.

* Apply the use of free weights in novel ways to basic yoga postures

* Strengthen and tone key areas such as the abdominals, lower back, upper arms and gluteus

* Teach core awareness

* Stretch chronically tight areas such as the hamstrings and hip flexors

Sunrise at Punta Mita

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

amanacer(crop)This is a view of the sunrise from the house where some of us will be staying. Let me tell you of the walks on and around the beach we will be taking between Pulse Yoga and cooking sessions. We will use our free weights on the walks. Lately I have been experimenting with using free weights on my morning walks. I use 3 lb. weights and try to find movements that work with a brisk walk. I have come up with 8 different movements. One of them is like this: Bring your weights in front of your shoulders, upper arms close to torso. Reach straight up and hold the weights overhead for 10 steps while keeping shoulders down away from the ears. Slowly lower the arms to the sides for a count of 10 steps until they arms are at shoulder level. Hold for another 10 steps. Lower arms to sides and relax for 10 steps. Repeat. This builds your upper body strength while walking. It also increases your heart rate more so than if you are just walking. It allows you to burn more calories!

Joggling and Pulse

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

This great joggling website offered a Pulse Yoga dvd giveaway. See below. I had no idea what joggling meant. It turns out that it is long distance running with juggling. I though doing yoga with micro movements and free weights was an unusual combination!! Anyway, just goes to show that hybrid systems are growing in exercise. People want to evolve the current exercise norms. Why not??

December 21, 2009

Hey Joggling fans. The good folks over at Pulse Yoga love runners and

especially jogglers. They wanted to give away a free Pulse Yoga DVD

to help improve your fitness even more.

One lucky reader will receive a FREE DVD just by being randomly

chosen from the comment section below.

How do I qualify?

Qualifying for the contest is easy. Just LEAVE A COMMENT to this

post saying how much you love joggling or juggling or running or

really anything else you want to say. A winner will be chosen on Jan 1, 2010.

What is Pulse Yoga?

Here is a little summary that the marketing people over at Pulse Yoga put together. It explains a

bit more what it is.

Don’t have time to go to the gym? Has the same fitness routine left you in a rut? Pulse Yoga

offers you the intensity of Pilates, Weight Training, and Yoga combined in one structured class

that can be done at your own convenience!

Argie L. Tang, founder of the Pulse Yoga DVD, designed Pulse Yoga to build strength, stamina

and power, while improving balance and flexibility. According to Argie, it is possible to combine

completely different exercise philosophies to get the most out of your workout.

This workout has been proven to provide positive results in the form of decreased body weight,

hip/waist circumference, and cholesterol. Pulse Yoga has also been found to be as effective as

functional training when it comes to total body fat loss, and aerobic fitness levels.

Pulse Yoga would be happy to sponsor a reader giveaway of Pulse Yoga Basic DVD, a $14.99

value! This yoga routine introduces the Pulse concept of micro movements within a posture. Key

areas such as abdominal, lower back and gluteous muscles are targeted by the alternation of

right/left pulse movements with free weights define and sculpt the upper body.

Frosty Festivities: Pulse Yoga review and {GIVEAWAY!!}

I am always looking for new ways to workout that will keep me motivated and interested enough to stick with it. I have tried yoga in the past and liked it but found some of the poses hard to do which made it hard to stick with. Pulse Yoga is a little different then your typical yoga postures.

(From the Pulse Yoga website): “In addition to the free weights, I added micro movements that primarily target areas such as thegluteus muscles, abdominals, upper arms and lower back. These micro movements within the yoga postures are highly effective with results that are noticeable immediately.”

Argie Ligeros, who is the founder of Pulse Yoga, walks you through all of the poses on the DVD, showing you exactly how to do all the poses. Here’s a little bit about Argie (from the Pulse Yoga website): Argie opened the first Yoga College of India for Bikram Choudrury in 1978. She has taught over 15,000 yoga classes and has developed yoga programs for schools, corporations, hospitals and television. Argie became certified as a fitness instructor at The University of California, Los Angles and began applying yoga principles and postures to athletic training programs. She developed a fitness system called “Y4A” which she has taught to a range of athletes from the elite level Olympian to recreational weekend warrior.

I really liked the Pulse Yoga DVD and thought it was perfect for someone who is interested in a low impact workout that they can do in their home. One thing I especially liked was that alongside Argie, Prisca (Argie’sbusiness partner) is doing the modified version of the same pose. This is perfect for beginners like myself who aren’t able to do the full pose. This way I can work my way up to doing what Argie is doing without feeling frustrated about not being able to keep up in the beginning. Another thing I liked was that there is a Pulse Yoga I, II, and III so once you have mastered the first one, you just move onto the next DVD for a new challenge. This way, you are always on your toes, getting the best workout you can.
