Sunrise at Punta Mita

amanacer(crop)This is a view of the sunrise from the house where some of us will be staying. Let me tell you of the walks on and around the beach we will be taking between Pulse Yoga and cooking sessions. We will use our free weights on the walks. Lately I have been experimenting with using free weights on my morning walks. I use 3 lb. weights and try to find movements that work with a brisk walk. I have come up with 8 different movements. One of them is like this: Bring your weights in front of your shoulders, upper arms close to torso. Reach straight up and hold the weights overhead for 10 steps while keeping shoulders down away from the ears. Slowly lower the arms to the sides for a count of 10 steps until they arms are at shoulder level. Hold for another 10 steps. Lower arms to sides and relax for 10 steps. Repeat. This builds your upper body strength while walking. It also increases your heart rate more so than if you are just walking. It allows you to burn more calories!
